Mathias Duhamel approaches his work as that of a musician whose instrument is the paint material. His vision of pictorial performance is situated in a space-time and not on a canvas surface.​ From the beginning to the end of the concert, on the same support, the artist makes materials, shapes and colours appear and then disappear, like successive scenes from a film, each of which covers the previous one. Until the last note fades away, each ephemeral scene becomes a powerful source of emotions.

Mathias Duhamel aborde son travail comme celui d'un musicien qui a pour instrument la matière de peinture. Sa vision de la performance picturale se situe dans un espace temps et non dans une surface de toile.​​ Du début à la fin du concert, sur un même support, l'artiste fait apparaître puis disparaître des matières, des formes et des couleurs, telles des scènes successives d'un film dont chacune recouvre la précédente. Jusqu'à l'extinction de la dernière note, chaque scène éphémère devient une puissante source d'émotions.
